Recovery is your edge to achieve more. Maximize your training with NormaTec’s

patented technology. It works as both a high-tech warm up, and a dynamic way to recover faster post-workout.

What is NormaTec Compression Therapy?

Who doesn’t love a massage? Similar to a massage, the device first molds to your body shape, then compresses your feet, hands or upper quads, before working its way up your limb. The massage pattern is also patented, and based on physiology. Like with a traditional massage, it compresses in a pulsing manner and then releases. This releases tension, increases blood flow, and reduces pain and soreness.

Many leading athletes, trainers and fitness enthusiasts around the world currently use this technology. There are devices that attach to the arms, hips and legs. These are sophisticated systems that effectively mimic the natural motions of the arms and legs to remove metabolites and fluids from the limbs after intense activity. The pulsing movements are helpful for preventing injuries and accelerating recovery time.

The benefits of NormaTec Pulse include enhanced blood flow and dynamic compression that ensures that fluids leave the limbs after intense workouts. The system is also designed with distal release, which prevents backflow. The benefits of dynamic compression are supported by research. Some of the benefits reported by studies include increased flexibility and range-of-motion for the lower extremities after workouts. As NormaTec increases in popularity, it’s being used in a variety of settings. Sports teams, CrossFit athletes, runners, cyclists and triathletes are among the people who use this technology.

Who Uses Compression Therapy?

Compression therapy has been used to help those with chronic circulation issues due to injury, surgery, weight gain, blood clots or long periods without movement.

Athletes use the technology to recover quickly from workouts and to rehab injuries. From Olympic athletes to LeBron James, NormaTec compression technology is used daily by:

  • NCAA players

  • NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL teams

  • The US Olympic Committee

  • US Navy SEALs

  • Some of the world’s best triathletes, cyclists, and runners

NORMATEC COMPRESSION THERAPY - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How does Normatec Compression Therapy work?

Pulse Compression Therapy squeezes on your muscles causing blood flow to circulate. The NormaTec suit compresses and releases tension on the muscles through sequential squeezing, your body thus sends blood flow to each area being squeezed delivering oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. The compressed air enters the suit and is pumped into the zones and released one at a time in sequence on your legs. This causes your body to send blood to each area as it constricts.

By sending blood to the area, it then flushes out the lactic acid and rushes in your body's nutrient-rich blood to repair any muscle tears or damage. So, in essence, you get two therapies in one. Over time this helps increase blood flow in your body lowering your blood pressure, and the second benefit happens immediately, as it helps your body repair muscle tissue.

The system has 7 squeeze-levels available - and depending on your needs it can be set for maximum function. The low settings are like a soothing massage and the higher levels are really forcing your body to work hard to pump the blood.

2. What conditions would prevent me from using a NormaTec?

The NormaTec Recovery Systems are FDA cleared devices that are safe for home use. However, people with the following conditions should not participate:

  • Acute deep vein thrombosis

  • Severe atherosclerosis or other ischemic vascular diseases

  • Severe congestive cardiac failure

  • Existing pulmonary edema

  • Existing pulmonary embolism

  • Extreme deformity of the limbs

  • Malignancy in the legs

  • Untreated limb infections/cellulitis

  • Limb fractures

  • Presence of Lymphangiosarcoma

3. How long is a session?

Before exercise, the NormaTec acts as a high-tech massage to warm up your muscles. Pre-workout sessions are generally 20 - 30 minutes long with a moderate intensity level. Using the NormaTec Recovery System after intense exercise will significantly speed up your recovery process, allowing you to train harder and perform better. We recommend using your NormaTec within a few hours after exercise to expedite your recovery process. Post-workout recovery sessions are generally 30 to 60 minutes long with a moderate to high-intensity level (it is safe to pump as long as you want). Sit back, relax, and enjoy the high-tech massage found only in a NormaTec Recovery System.

4. Is it clean?
